In this weeks parasha, we discuss the 12 spies who were sent to spy out the land. It was an exciting time, in that the Israelites were finally going to step into the promise that was given to the patriarchs. Although still learning what it is to trust YHVH, the people really had problems in that area, and adding to this struggle, having to deal with the negative report of 10 of the 12 spies. In this weeks parasha, Moshe does a census for the Levites and based on the lineage, gives everyone their area of responsibility as it related to temple duties. Moshe also explains the laws dealing with women who have husbands that have reason to believe that their wife has been unfaithful. Since we are entering into the Holy Days, this weeks Torah Parashah reflects the passover, a topic we have already covered in previous Parashahs, I decided to take a different approach and get into the origins and institutions of these Holy Days.
